In 2002, Mazda released the final production run of the RX-7 for the Japanese market. The special-edition Spirit R Type A featured Gun Metallic forged BBS wheels, an adjustable rear wing, Bilstein shocks, twin-red Recaro lightweight carbon fibre sports seats, rear seat delete, and the high-revving 280-hp 1.3-litre twin-turbo rotary engine.

Only 1,500 Spirit R units were produced, with 1,044 being the sought-after and most hardcore Type A model. The Spirit R is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the RX-7 series. With its desirable specification, ultra-low mileage, and status as the ultimate RX-7, this special edition Type A is a strong candidate for dedicated JDM collectors.
